Australia is expansive, colorful, and filled with endless inspiration. On July 1, 2017 I arrived "down under" for an incredible artist residency in the Blue Mountains region near Sydney. BigCi (Bilpin International Grounds for Creative Initiatives) hosted myself and four other International artist for one month of inspiration and art making. As an avid camper, I had begun to lose touch with the wilderness, and the Australian wilderness brought that passion back to me. Surrounded by endless landscape and wild bush I lived for one month amongst a forest of Eucalyptus trees. The air smelled sweet and clean, the sunsets equivalent to Southern California's, and the frogs were an orchestral lullaby to put you to sleep. At dawn countless songbirds awoke the sun. Director Yuri Bolotin took me on most amazing unmarked trail walks through the Australian bush and from then on knew I wanted to create art about conservation and preservation.
