โThe Gardenโ
Featured in 805 Magazine Summer 2020
The Garden Triptych, acrylic on wood, commissioned by art Trek, inc., a nonprofit art center in Newbury Park.
โIโve spent my last semester working hard during clinical practice to implement my teaching practices Ivโe learned. So much so that I barely had time to [create] art myself. School is over, and I feel confident about teaching. Iโm finally painting my emotions away. When you plant seeds, be patent, they will unveil themselves to the world when theyโre ready. Welcome to the garden of my mind. Let it spread joy in our hearts and bring hope to all whoโve endured this pandemic.โ
Conejo Cottontail Project
The unveiling of Venti, the 20th Conejo Cottontail was a culmination of months of hard work. It represents my connection to the community I grew up in and serve in today.
Working closely with Art Trek Inc. and the Thousand Oaks Best Western Hotel, I designed a rabbit highlighting the multi-cultural histories of the Conejo Valley Region. With permission from the local Chumash community, I highlighted the original settlers of the region. It was important for me to incorporate motifs tied to ancient cultures as well as construct contemporary views tied to female empowerment. Imagery of the indigenous flora found throughout Conejo Valley leads the eye through mountainous terrains to later histories of โWesternโ settlement. These images highlight the Western film industry and the agricultural influx of the baby boomer generation. The ears of the sculpture showcase โpainted ladyโ butterflies, an ode to the victims of the Borderline shooting. They also symbolize the healing and transformation the community has endured throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
The creation of Venti was important to me because it reflected my life. After years of creating and exhibiting my Art all around the world, Iโve wanted to share my knowledge, so I began teaching Art in 2015. Since then, Iโve taught thousands of students across Ventura County and was blessed to work for Art Trek for four years. During the creation of Venti I was finishing the teaching credential program at California Lutheran University 2020. The stresses of school, teaching, working, and the COVID-19 Pandemic were beginning to wear me down. Creating Venti helped me survive the stress of the pandemic, as I painted her into existence.
The unveiling of Venti occurred July, 2020 at the Best Western Plus Thousand Oaks Hotel. I would like to Thank the Board at Best Western as well as the directorโs at Art Trek, Inc. for giving me the opportunity to showcase my work and represent the Conejo Valley community.

Many Mansions Mural 2017
In 2017, Non-for-profit Many Mansions Company reached out to Art Trek, Inc. seeking an artist to paint a mural at Shadow Hills, their newest affordable living apartment complex in Thousand Oaks, Ca. I was selected to paint a 400 square foot mural of an oceanside community on the newly developed property. The Mural was a culmination of a monthโs hard work and an unveiling with the Ventura County Newspaper. It was an honor to be able to paint this mural for my community.
